Introducing the Glenrothes 51

We’ve been a little quiet on social lately, but for good reason.

After the excitement of being named Design Agency of the Year at the Scottish Design Awards, we’re finally able to share a truly special project that’s been under wraps for some time now.

Having worked closely with the brilliant teams at Glenrothes and Zone to craft bespoke packaging for an extraordinary, limited release: just 100 bottles of The Glenrothes 51-Year-Old.

This is no ordinary unboxing. The packaging for the 51-Year-Old is unlike anything seen before. The bottle remains completely hidden until the outer shell is physically broken. Each buyer receives a custom-made hammer and is invited to smash through the Jesmonite column to reveal what lies within. It is a bold, one-of-a-kind experience that transforms discovery into a powerful and personal moment.

Collectors are looking to be incentivised to drink their whiskies, and herein lies a great new approach to this very problem.

Jonny Fowle, Global head of Whisky at Sotheby’s

Buyers can return the broken fragments to a kintsugi artist, who then restores them using the traditional Japanese technique of mending with gold. The result is a unique sculpture, personal to each owner, turning a moment of destruction into something beautiful. It becomes a lasting, meaningful object that creates a deep connection between the product and the person who owns it. A true expression of circular design, craftsmanship, and emotional storytelling.

We were delighted to have the product launch covered by the likes of Forbes, Bloomberg, Sotheby’s’s, Master of Malt , InsideHook and Men’s Journal.

This might be the most unique packaging ever for a whisky.

We’re excited to soon share our journey on working on this true creative collaboration.
