Bosie Knitwear

Shaped by the Sea

Challenge

Bosie Knitwear creates luxurious Scottish knitwear where generations of craftsmanship meet contemporary design. Every garment is meticulously made in the North East of Scotland using 100% natural wool, reflecting the brand’s commitment to responsible production, enduring quality and authentic heritage.

Approach

Bosie approached us to reimagine its brand for a new chapter. Our challenge was to elevate the existing identity with a more distinctive, modern expression, while preserving the tradition, character and exceptional craftsmanship at its core.

We allowed Bosie’s inspiring heritage and rich history to guide the brand refresh. Drawing inspiration from the North East’s traditional fishing communities.

For the typography, we partnered with Scottish type foundry Polytype to rework an existing typeface into something distinctly Bosie. The result blends traditional character with a contemporary edge, capturing the brand’s balance of heritage and modernity. Subtle details bring the story to life: the ‘S’ takes inspiration from the curve of a fishing hook, while the rotated ‘O’ points to Bosie’s North East roots.

Illustration

We partnered with San Francisco-based illustrator Nathan Yoder to give the Bosie brand a distinctive visual voice through a series of bespoke illustrations. The collaboration included reimagining the brand’s primary crest and creating six custom collector tags for Blue Mogganer, Bosie’s signature line.

These illustrations, featuring characters such as the Trawlerman and the Siren, serve as compelling visual storytelling elements that reinforce Bosie’s distinctive identity, deeply rooted in Scottish fishing heritage. As a subtle nod to the brand’s core symbolism, each collector tag includes hidden elements from the main Bosie crest, including the puffin, apple, and moon.

Content Creation

Photography and film were central to bringing the brand’s world to life. Working with art director Tom Leeper, photographer Simon Lipman and videographer Kailas Gurung, we commissioned two complementary shoots: one in the studio and one on location.

The location shoot placed the collection against dramatic natural landscapes and coastlines, creating a strong sense of place and scale. Expansive wide shots captured the vastness of the surroundings, while intimate close-ups revealed the craftsmanship, textures and intricate detailing of each garment.

The refreshed Bosie identity brings together Scottish heritage, natural materials and contemporary design. Inspired by the brand’s coastal roots and generations of craftsmanship, the new direction feels refined and modern while preserving the warmth, authenticity and quality that define Bosie.

Digital

The final phase of the rebrand focused on the creation of a custom Shopify website, designed to showcase Bosie Knitwear’s exceptional products.

In partnership with Shopify experts Uncover Commerce, we developed a site that not only offers a visually stunning experience but is also equipped with a robust, scalable system to support the company’s growth and its expanding international customer base.

"From the very beginning we felt Cameron and Mark were a safe pair of hands. Having been let down by companies before, nothing was too big an ask and they showed great understanding of the goals we had for our brand. Their creativity really enhanced our ideas and brought the design resolution to something we are truly delighted with. Their industry links with highly talented artists and their knowledge to know exactly where to look is something we could never have done on our own. Cameron’s gorgeous graphic and font designing skills and Marks creativity and immediate understanding of the tone of the project, really exemplified their innate affinity for underpinning and refining their clients ideas. On top of that they have the patience of the Saints. We really can’t recommend Studio Form highly enough. Thanks again Cameron and Mark!"
